Love your work Lori!! The lively colors and decorative use of shapes resonate with me totally - as you will have seen from my silk art! Fun to read your explanation about the Pennsylvania Dutch symbolism you have used here.

Wow! Very colorful and attractive, interesting concept! No one has done too much with Pennsylvania Dutch motifs, (except the Pennsylvania Dutch, of course!).

This is great, it calls to mind Georgia O'Keefe w/the colors and curves and makes Dutch Hex signs lovable & cute. The three fish at the bottom are a fun touch and make this a family-friendly piece of art!!!

Plenty of love and joy go into my work, and I hope that comes across.I wish I was able to upload the original file which is nearly four times as large as the file I was able to upload on this site, and is much more detailed. I had a 24 x 32 Giclee Canvas print made by a printer in Asheville, NC of the original watercolor painting and I am very happy with it.
About 300 years ago, groups of religious refugees from the Rhine region of Germany migrated to south eastern Pennsylvania. Over time, these people became known as \\\\\\\"Pennsylvania Dutch\\\\\\\" and they had their own type of art which was expressed in \\\\\\\"hex signs.\\\\\\\"

When we are able to make this connection, our hearts open wider and wonderful things begin to happen. Life becomes easier and lighter. Happiness and lightening up come to me while working on a piece of art, whether it is painting in my home studio located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina or photographing a heart shaped leaf frozen in an ice covered pond. And it is my heartfelt wish that the joy I find in my art work is imparted to you, the viewer. From my heart to yours, Lori Miller (For a slide show click on "view complete biography.")
